OMG. Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher Trailer is Just Like That Scientology Video

Tom Cruise IS Jack Reacher | Paramount

I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised that the trailer for Jack Reacher was released today. Number one, it’s Tom Cruise’s birthday. He turns 50. And he’s facing a huge legal battle over custody of little Suri. And number two, he needs something to offset the bad publicity he’s getting over Katie Holmes filing those divorce papers.

The action-thriller, in theaters Dec. 21, 2012, stars Tom Cruise as, well, Tom Cruise, as you can see in the trailer below. But here’s the synopsis from IMDB:

In an innocent heartland city, five are shot dead by an expert sniper. The police quickly identify and arrest the culprit, and build a slam-dunk case. But the accused man claims he’s innocent and says “Get Jack Reacher.”

Reacher (Cruise) sees the news report and turns up in the city. The defense is immensely relieved, but Reacher has come to bury the guy. Shocked at the accused’s request, Reacher sets out to confirm for himself the absolute certainty of the man’s guilt, but comes up with more than he bargained for.

Yes, I still have no idea what the movie is about, but that doesn’t matter, because it’s Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise! Beating people up! Making snarky comments as he beats them up! Driving fast in a muscle car! Saving … something!

But here’s the amazing thing. The music in this trailer is almost identical to the music played in that wacky Scientology video he was in a few years back (which, just like this trailer, I still have no idea what he’s talking about).

Here, check it out for yourself. Watch the Jack Reacher trailer, then watch the Scientology video below. The music is exactly the same. And quite possibly the storyline, hypothetically speaking. Am I right, or am I right?

And just for fun, here’s the Jerry O’Connell parody of the Scientology video.

No time to read the books! Do the books connect at all to Scientology?

  2. […] wait to see him in Jack Reacher this weekend. I don’t even mind the fact that the trailer eerily mirrors his wacky Scientology video. It matters not to me. In Jack Reacher, he plays a homicide investigator who digs deeper into a […]
