Family Publication Spotlight: Orlando Family Magazine

Orlando Family MagazineMost regional parenting publications have lots of excellent information about what’s happening in their area, and Orlando Family Magazine, one of my Reel Life With Jane syndication partners, is no exception.

What sets the great publications apart from the pack is HOW the information is presented.  Is the Web site bright and colorful? Easy to navigate? Are the ads elegant, and do they blend in nicely with the site? Are the stories presented in a way that’s easy on the eyes and leave you with a nice feeling about the site?

In the case of Orlando Family Magazine, the answer to all of those questions is yes. It’s just a really beautiful, clean, colorful and fun Web site that’s a pleasure to visit.

The other part of the story is the bounty of information available there. In addition to lots of current info about camps, schools, local physicians, health & wellness, book buzz, family tech talk (it’s all about texting this month), and movie reviews from yours truly, the site also includes excellent features about people doing great things.

A cover story features the 5th Annual Bright House Networks Fashion Funds the Cure, a runway show and private shopping fundraiser that benefits the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. One of the coolest things is that young cancer patients actually got to step out on the runway and be supermodels for a day. Awesome! Check out the story at Orlando Family Magazine, and learn more about the program at FasterCure.org.

Another cover story is all about James Love, a dad of two boys, 3 and 17 months, who’s also a nine-year veteran of the Orlando Fire Department. In addition, he founded and runs a company called Black Helmet Apparel, “clothing that firefighters love.” A portion of the profits go to not-for-profit charities and foundations, including the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, the Leary Firefighters Foundation, and St. Baldricks Foundation for Childhood Cancer. Here’s a guy who walks the walk and makes a difference in his community AND the country.

You don’t need to live in the Orlando area to benefit from all the awesome stories in this magazine. Please check out Orlando Family Magazine, follow them on Twitter, and like their Facebook page.
