SEAL Team is the perfect fit for TV veteran David Boreanaz, fresh off 12 seasons playing FBI Special Agent (who was an army ranger) Seely Booth, opposite Emily Deschanel on Bones.
SEAL Team is a military-based show that revolves around an elite SEAL team who is assigned top priority clandestine missions.
Boreanaz plays Jason Hayes, leader of a Tier One SEAL team, who is separated from his wife, trying to make time for his daughter, and dealing with ghosts from his past. Adding to it all, he is not receptive to the new kid on the team – who has his own baggage, as well as a big chip on his shoulder.
The cast includes, Max Theriot, Neil Brown, Jr., Jessica Pave, A.J. Buckley and Toni Trucks. All solid in their roles.
In an interview, one of the executive producers referenced that the characters are a very big part of the series (that’s what I loved about Bones). Characters are always the number one draw for me, as with many of us. I think that’s what keeps shows going. People have to be drawn into and get emotional about the characters.
I watched the pilot and am intrigued. I am excited about getting deeper into the story-lines. I think that the audience will recognize how dangerous and relevant the missions are to the these elite teams and world events, which is a good thing.
It’s nice to see a series about our military and what they have to deal with as soldiers, humans and the intensity of it all. I think this show should develop nicely, and Boreanaz will likely draw his devoted fans from previous shows Bones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
