Iain Armitage became famous among New York City theater-goers a few years ago when his parents started posting his video theater reviews on YouTube – the first one when he was just three years old.
Now, Iain has become a successful actor himself. First on “Law & Order: SVU” and then the celebrated show, “Big Little Lies,” he will next star as “Young Sheldon,” playing a nine-year old version of Jim Parsons’ character from “Big Bang Theory.” And Iain won’t even be nine himself until this July! He’s a bit of a prodigy himself, even if it isn’t in physics.
Iain also has a bit of a pedigree. He’s the son of theater producer Lee Armitage and actor Euan Morton who starred as Boy George in “Taboo” on Broadway and is currently on tour in the lead role of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” Iain’s godfather is Raul Esparza, another Broadway star who currently plays ADA Barba on “Law & Order: SVU.” Esparza starred alongside Morton in “Taboo.”
New Yorkers who have become addicted to Iain’s exuberant video reviews are excited for their native son. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until September for the show to air on CBS, but meanwhile, take a look at the trailer that was just released.
