Photos: 2017 Tony Award Nominees Meet the Press

The 2017 Tony Award nominees gathered this morning to meet with the press, and I took photos. Unfortunately, some were unable to attend, including Bette Midler, Kevin Kline, and Nathan Lane, but the majority of nominees walked the red carpet.

Christian Borle is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for “Falsettos” and is currently starring in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
Andy Karl is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for “Groundhog Day.”
Ben Platt is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for “Dear Evan Hansen.”
David Hyde Pierce is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for “Hello, Dolly!”
Josh Groban is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for “Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.”
Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole are both nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for “War Paint.”

Dave Malloy is a triple nominee for Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Orchestrations for “Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.”
Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are nominated for Best Original Score for “Dear Evan Hansen.” Earlier this year, they won an Oscar for their original song in the film “La La Land.”
Renowned director Sam Gold is nominated for Best Direction of “A Doll’s House, Part 2.”
Another renowned director, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, is nominated for Best Direction of “August Wilson’s Jitney.”
Legendary director Jerry Zaks is nominated for Best Director for “Hello, Dolly!”
I think first-time nominee Stephen Levenson is likely to win for Best Book of a Musical for “Dear Evan Hansen.” He has also had an original play in production at the Roundabout Theatre this season and recently inked a deal with Fox 21 Television Studios and 20th Century Fox Television to create projects for cable, streaming, and broadcast channels.
And the final shot: David Hyde Pierce and Kate Baldwin who both star in “Hello, Dolly!”
