The SAG Awards – 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards – took place on Jan. 30, 2016 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and Ryan Gosling is adorable as ever. The actor was nominated, along with his cast, for “The Big Short,” but lost out to “Spotlight.” Both great movies.
“The Big Short” follows four denizens in the world of high-finance who predict the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s, and decide to take on the big banks for their greed and lack of foresight. The film also stars Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, and Christian Bale.
Did you know that Ryan Gosling’s ancestry includes English, French-Canadian, Scottish, and German. The Gosling family moved to Cornwall, Ontario, where Ryan, the second of two kids, was home-schooled.
He also once said, “I mean, God bless ‘The Notebook,’ it introduced me to one of the great loves (Rachel McAdams) of my life. But, people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that.” Awwww…
And also: “All my characters are me. I’m not a good enough actor to become a character. I hear about actors who become the role and I think ‘I wonder what that feels like.’ Because for me, they’re all me. I relate to these characters because aspects of their personality are like me. And I just turn up the parts of myself that are them and turn down the parts that aren’t.”
