The Janies, Janie Awards, Oscars

Forget the Oscars! Here’s Our 2nd Annual Janie Awards, aka The Janies!

Oscars Schmoscars! It’s time for our 2nd Annual Janie Awards, aka The Janies!

That’s right. The 88th Academy Awards, aka The Oscars, airs live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. That’s this Sunday, people!

Sure, we’re plenty excited about the Oscars ceremony. But as with last year, we feel that the Academy’s categories are a bit limited.

So, here we go with the 2nd Annual Janie Awards, a.k.a. The Janies! Thanks to my compadre Melanie Votaw for brainstorming categories! Read all Melanie’s stories here.

These are brilliant – thanks for the laugh. Although I haven’t seen all the movies, I can’t agree more with Best Actor Who Looks Beautiful in a Dress & Best Character in Need of a Freakin’ Break –– ha!
Can I come to YOUR Oscar party??

SIR-shah. I know. It doesn’t make any sense, but there you have it!

And the Janie awards are the best ever!

    1. Saoirse = Sear-See (like searing meet)
    2. The “It’s About Time Oscar Paid Attention To You” Award should have gone to Jennifer Jason Leigh
    3. Of course, I have to pick on the one category I disagree with in an otherwise perfect list. Nicely done, Jane.

Oops! I am wrong. Ms. Reynolds is correct. Apologies.

Oh, oh, oh. I have a friend named Saoirse, and she pronounces it Sair (rhymes with hair)-sha.

Thanks, All! Ok, now I’ll know how to pronounce Saoirse’s name if I ever run into her. 🙂

Saoirse is pronounced SER-sha, “like inertia,” as she told Stephen Colbert. Otherwise I’d never have known!
