I know Hollywood marriages have a terrible track record, but if anyone could have made it, I thought it’d be Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. They always seemed to have each others’ back and were supportive of each others’ projects. I guess the photo opps aren’t always what they seem (understatement of the day).
But Affleck and Garner have decided to call it quits, reports TMZ. The couple, who celebrated (probably not the right word, in this case) their 10-year anniversary yesterday, will file for divorce, but they’re working with a mediator and business managers to sort everything out. The official divorce paperwork will be filed when all of the property and custody issues are resolved.
I feel bad for their three kids, ranging in age from 3 to 9 (they’ll share joint custody of the kids). It’s hard enough living in the spotlight of your parents, and now I’m sure it’ll be even more challenging keeping the paparazzi away.
The couple issued an official statement, noting:
After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private family matter. Thank you for understanding.
