Pandemonium reigns in the first trailer for “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” the second installment of the movie franchise based on James Dashner’s YA post-apocalyptic dystopian sci-fi thriller book series. I loved the first movie (5 of 5 Reels in my review!) and can’t wait to see this one.

In this next chapter of the saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles.

Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.

Directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin and based on the “Maze Runner” book series by James Dashner, the cast also includes Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Barry Pepper, Lili Taylor, and Patricia Clarkson.

“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” opens in theaters Sept. 18, 2015.

Didn’t the Maze Runner to better in theaters than Divergent did?

Here’s what IMDB is showing for gross box office numbers (USA):

      Divergent: 150 million
      Maze Runner: 102 million

I liked both of them for various reasons, but if I had to choose one that stood out for me the most, it’d be Maze Runner. Visually, it was more memorable for me. But again, I loved both films.
