Shadowhunters, celebrate! New cast members have been added to the upcoming TV adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s ‘The Mortal Instruments’ series – and this time, it’s Simon and Isabella who have new faces!
“Shadowhunters” is a TV adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” series, which follows Clary Fray as she discovers and joins a conclave of half-angel Shadowhunters living in New York City after her mother is kidnapped.
ABC Family has officially cast Emeraude Toubia as Isabella Lightwood, adopted sister to male lead Jace Wayland (played by Dominic Sherwood) and a Shadowhunter in her own right. Alberto Rosende will play Simon Lewis, Clary Fray’s best friend.

Particularly notable about this casting is how they decided to cast with actors of color, rather than white actors. (In the movie adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s “City of Bones,” Isabella was played by the French actress Jemima West; Simon was played by the fabulous Robert Sheehan.) I absolutely adore that decision and can’t wait to see how the actors do in their roles!
The casting of Clary Fray has yet to be announced and is expected sometime soon over the next few weeks.
