First Look: Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Oliver Stone’s ‘Snowden’

You know, it wasn’t that long ago when Joseph Gordon-Levitt was playing Tommy on the TV series “3rd Rock from the Sun.” Well, ok, that show ended in 2001, so it’s been 14 years, but the star has come a long way since then.

Open Road Films released the first photo today of Gordon-Levitt in the title role of Oliver Stone’s international thriller, “Snowden.” The film is currently shooting in Munich, before moving to locations around the world, and chronicles the life of whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Directed by Stone, who has helmed other political films such as “JFK,” “Nixon” and “W.,” “Snowden” features an all-star cast including Shailene Woodley, Scott Eastwood, Nicolas Cage, Timothy Olyphant, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Joely Richardson, Melissa Leo, Keith Stanfield and Rhys Ifans. It hits theaters U.S. Dec. 25, 2015.
