The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Jennifer Lawrence Embodies Katniss in New ‘Mockingjay’ Trailer

Ready to have your world set on fire? Me, too! “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” hits theaters on Nov. 21, 2014, but advance tickets go on sale Oct. 29 at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT.

The story picks up with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) back in District 13 after shattering the games forever. Under the guidance of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage.

I honestly can’t think of a better person to play Katniss than Jennifer Lawrence. The role is made for her, and she brings the strength and emotions of the character to life right out of the pages of the book. It’s a good example of “you don’t know how much strength you have until you need to use it.”

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik.

The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins with more than 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. I sped through all “The Hunger Games” books within the span of a couple weeks – which is a record for me these days.
