It’s always so sad to hear of a beloved celebrity’s death, and the first thing I always think is – it it a hoax? For some reason, death hoaxes are all the rage now.
Sadly, this one appears to be real. Paul Walker – best known for his role as Brian O’Conner in the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise – died earlier today after a single-car accident and explosion in Southern California.
The accident happened north of Los Angeles in Santa Clarita, and according to sources in a story over at TMZ, the actor was in a Porsche when the driver lost control and slammed into a post or a tree, causing the car to burst into flames. Sources say both Walker and the other person were killed.
Filming is currently in progress on “Fast & Furious 7,” due out in 2014. Walker will also be seen in “Brick Mansions,” a Luc Besson film due out in 2014, and he was the executive producer for “Skyscraper,” currently in script status.
Walker’s official Facebook page posted this message:
It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. – #TeamPW
Our prayers go out to his friends and family.
