All week long, the folks are Fons PR – one of the best entertainment PR companies around – are revealing new “Divergent” character posters, featuring members of the Dauntless faction. The first poster is for the character Tori, played by Maggie Q.
Directed by Neil Burger, “Divergent” takes place in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.
“Divergent” arrives in theaters and IMAX nationwide on March 21, 2014.
The Dauntless Faction: The posters highlight the tattoo culture of the Dauntless faction, whose members guard the fence that surrounds the city of Chicago. Dauntless members are known for their fearlessness and teamwork. They are intense, bold risk takers and believe that conquering your fears is essential to the Dauntless way of life. That sounds like a perfect fit for Maggie Q.
Author Veronica Roth on the Dauntless Tattoos: Roth, who wrote the books on which “Divergent” is based, said, “Most Dauntless get tattoos as a reminder of the past, a mark of progress. There’s also the relationship to pain (a true Dauntless doesn’t mind the pain!), but mostly tattoos are a sign of overcoming obstacles, for them, a way of marking struggle and progress on the body.”
Tori on her Tattoos: “In some parts of the ancient world, the hawk symbolized the sun. Back when I got this, I figured if I always had the sun on me, I wouldn’t be afraid of the dark … Now it reminds me of the fear I’ve overcome.” (Divergent) Ok, now I want a Dauntless tattoo.
Character Description: Tori is a member of the Dauntless faction who administers Tris’ aptitude test and first discovers that Tris is Divergent. As she continues to provide Tris with advice, the two establish a bond that helps Tris throughout her journey.
