Miley Cyrus Admits to Having ‘Messed Up’ Life

MTV VMAs 2013: Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has reportedly told a UK paper, Sunday People, that she’s had a “messed up” life.

Miley, who climbed to super-stardom playing Disney’s Hannah Montana, was adored and admired by millions of teen girls – including my daughter (yes, I even took her to a Hannah Montana concert).

In the past couple of years, we’ve seen Miley change her look considerably. She cut and died her hair, got engaged (very young), added some tattoos, and started dressing the opposite of “girl next door” Hannah Montana.

Most recently, Miley shocked viewers with her very racy and raunchy performance with Robin Thicke at the “MTV Video Music Awards.” Social media went crazy! All media went crazy! Parents were appalled (I was sad and disappointed, as was my daughter).

Here’s a reminder of a less raunchy Miley Cyrus, singing “Jolene”:

However, in the Sunday People interview, Miley says, “I have so many f—ing issues … everyone does dumb stuff when they are messed up.” True.

The pop star says, “I don’t live a normal life. I take a hiatus every now and again, but I’m not good at it.” She also says she is a workaholic and really doesn’t sleep (not good).

By her own admission, she says all she does is work … and that she’s been working since she was a very young girl. Diet and exercise do not exist either for her, which isn’t healthy.

Ok, some people may say these are excuses, but really, she is a 20-year-old kid who has worked her whole life and hasn’t been able to be a kid or her own person. We’ve seen this many times before, and there is something to it.

On the VMAs she was obviously trying to go as far away from her “Hannah Montana” persona as possible – trying to push the limits.miley

I really do think she is a talented girl who really needs to take some time off and find herself. Once she does, I hope she will continue with her music and film career. She has the ability; she just needs to grow up and be confident with herself.

Listen, I’ve seen much worse, and again, she’s only 20 years old. I don’t think she’s a bad person, just a little lost. Let’s give her a break.

What are your thoughts on Miley? Do you think she will come around? Tell us your thoughts below.

I agree that she’s really young, and young people do dumb stuff. And she’s super talented (love the Jolene video). I’m worried for her, and hope she doesn’t go down that road of messed upedness that’s really hard to come back from.

I wonder if people who’ve been famous their whole life feel like they’re invincible or something? That they can do anything and not have to pay the consequences.

Oh, I hope she gets some therapy. Sounds like she needs to figure out who she is separate from her business. I’m sure it’s hard to be in her position.
