So exciting! Here’s a first look at the new Royal Baby, the little one who will one day be king.
Britain’s Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge hold the Prince of Cambridge, Tuesday, July 23, 2013, as they pose for photographers outside St. Mary’s Hospital exclusive Lindo Wing in London, where the Duchess gave birth on Monday, July 22.
I can’t imagine the pressure of giving birth to a king – the baby is third in line to the British throne – but Kate seems to handle it all with grace and style. And William too, of course.
The couple – Kate looking amazing and wearing a spotted blue and white dress and Diana’s engagement ring on her finger, her gorgeous hair flowing around her – emerged from the hospital with the baby wrapped in a white shawl, and stood graciously as the crowds took photos.
Kate handed the baby over to William so sweetly, and the couple even answered a few questions. “He’s got a good pair of lungs on him, that’s for sure,” said William.
He added that “I’ll remind him of his tardiness when he’s a bit older,” as the baby arrived later than anticipated. For just having given birth yesterday, Kate looks simply amazing. No signs of a sleepless night! The baby was born at 4:24 p.m on Monday, July 22 and weighed 8 lbs., 6 oz.
“He’s got way more than me,” the Prince said in his final comments, referring to those few little hairs on the royal baby’s head.
They’re still working on a name, which I’m sure we’ll know in good time. “He’s a big boy. He’s quite heavy,” William told the crowd. “We’re still working on a name. We’ll have that as soon as we can.”
Kate said the experience has been “very emotional,” adding that any parent would “know what this feeling feels like.” William added, “Very special.”
“He’s got her looks, thankfully,” William joked.
Kate quickly laughed and responded, “No, no, no.”
They went back into the hospital and a few moment later, came out with the baby in a carseat and tucked him into the back seat of their car. William mouthed “phew” as he managed to fasten it in one go.
With Kate in back with the baby, William driving, and a security in the passenger side in the front seat, the couple drove off to their new life together with the little one. They’re expected to head to London’s Kensington Palace from the hospital.
Very modern and casual. I just love this Royal couple.
