The CW to Bring Back ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’

Well, thank the Lord for smart programming.  The CW recently axed “90210” and has announced they are bringing back “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” this summer.

Drew Carey is out as host, but Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady will be returning as cast members with the last seat a revolving door for whoever is available at the moment. I imagine we’ll see former cast members Greg Proops, Josie Lawrence, maybe even Drew Carey in said seat. One thing is for sure: we won’t be seeing much of Chip Esten, as he is now a major player on ABC’s Nashville.”

Aisha Tyler will be taking over the hosting duties from Carey.

The show was always good for some side-splitting laughs, whether intentional or unintentional.  And since production costs are cheap — single stage, three cameras, and the cast — it’s lucrative to make.

Shoot, ABC ran so many reruns of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” on ABC Family, along with “The Drew Carey Show,” that one would think it was the Drew Carey Network.

At least now I have something to look forward to this summer instead of re-runs.

Here’s a little refresher on the song stylings of Wayne Brady:

This makes me so happy. Those guys are so talented, and Wayne Brady, in particular, always always always makes me laugh. That’s saying something in this day and age.

I don’t know much about Aisha Tyler. Is she pretty funny? Hard to imagine the show without Drew Carey.

Aisha started off as a standup comedian. A lot of people don’t know that as most of the roles I’ve seen her in were dramatic ones.

Yeah, I didn’t even realize she was a stand-up comic until I did a little search on her. She probably has a huge following, too, so that’ll bring in lots of viewers – along with, of course, the very funny crew. I’m pretty excited about this revival.
