I was pretty excited for “Iron Man 3,” but now I’m super excited after seeing the new trailer below. Marvel has said this will be a fun film to hit the trilogy mark, but it also looks intense.
For one thing, now I want a suit I can just leap into and have it wrap around me perfectly. That’s cool. The movie also traces back to its comic book roots, including Extremis, Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) and the Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle), and the bond between Tony and Pepper seems to be getting stronger. Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow have great chemistry.
Let’s take a look at some of the one-liners in the trailer:
“So why can’t I sleep?” – Tony Stark. You wouldn’t sleep either if you’d just got done helping the Avengers save the world. With a new threat looming, he’s got the weight of the world on his shoulders.
“I will defend this country at all costs.” – The President. The homeland is under attack, and the U.S. isn’t taking any chances. They’re not willing to risk the whole shebang on Iron Man; they’ve also got the Iron Patriot, seen saluting the President as he boards Air Force One.
“You don’t know who I am. You’ll never see me coming.” – The Mandarin. Based on the massive destruction and explosions in the trailer (are we sure this isn’t a Michael Bay film?), we can see the Mandarin is sending a message to the world and will take down Tony Stark at the same time. Blowing up his mansion? Good start.
“What are you going to do about these attacks?” – A reporter, talking to Tony Stark. No pressure or anything.
“I’m not afraid of you. No politics here. Just good, old-fashioned revenge.” – Tony Stark. Epic.
