Five Reasons Why Americans Love Die Hard

Die Hard 5

The folks over at Finances Online sent us this, and it’s really, really fun. The undershirt thing … I wouldn’t say I love it, but it works for Bruce Willis, and I’m basically in love with him, so there’s that.

And what?! Richard Gere and Frank Sinatra were offered the role of John McClane? I so cannot see that. At all.

And let’s do the math here. The first “Die Hard” movie was in 1988, so Sinatra would have been 73 at the time. That can’t be right, can it? Oh wait, I just checked and the book on which the movie is based — Roderick Thorp’s “Nothing Lasts Forever” — was published in 1979, so that makes more sense.

At any rate, glad they waited and cast Willis in the role. No one could ever come close to his portrayal of John McClane. Yipee-Ki-Yay!

A Good Day to Die Hard” — the fifth installment — hits theaters Feb. 14, 2013. Happy Valentine’s Day!
