Shirley Bassey

Shirley BasseyIt’s the most obvious thing in the world, that Dame Shirley Bassey should be at the Oscars on Feb. 24 to sing “Goldfinger,” the most famous James Bond song of them all.

Bassey also recorded the theme songs for the James Bond films “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Moonraker.” The telecast will celebrate movie musicals and the 50th anniversary of the Brit spy franchise.

“We are thrilled to welcome the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey to our Oscar show,” said Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the producers of the Oscar telecast. “Her association with film music is world renowned, and we are proud that she will be making her first Oscar appearance on our telecast.”

Bassey, who still looks terrific, joins previously announced Oscar performers including Adele, Norah Jones and Barbra Streisand.
