Let’s take a look at what’s in store from CBS Films this year, including a demon who just.won’t.go.away.
THE LAST EXORCISM PART II
RELEASE DATE: March 1, 2013
DIRECTED BY: Ed Gass-Donnelly
WRITTEN BY: Ed Gass-Donnelly, Damien Chazelle
PRODUCED BY: Eli Roth, Eric Newman, Marc Abraham, Thomas Bliss
CAST: Ashley Bell, Julia Garner, Spencer Treat Clark, Louis Herthum
Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can’t remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family.
Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning. Look for more impressive gymnastics.
THE TO-DO LIST
RELEASE DATE: SUMMER 2013
WRITTEN and DIRECTED BY: Maggie Carey
PRODUCED BY: Jennifer Todd, Brian Robbins, Sharla Sumpter Bridgett
CAST: Aubrey Plaza, Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Sarah Steele, Scott Porter, Rachel Bilson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Andy Samberg, Donald Glover, Connie Britton, Clark Gregg
Loosely inspired by the real-life adventures of first-time writer/director Maggie Carey, “The To Do List” is a heartfelt comedy about close friends and a special summer project. Set in 1993, valedictorian Brandy Klark (Aubrey Plaza) wants to shed her uptight image before college, so she assembles a to do list of all the “activities” she missed out on in high school.
Quickly realizing that she’s way out of her depth, Brandy solicits her best friends (Alia Shawkat, Sarah Steele, Donald Glover, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Johnny Simmons), older sister (Rachel Bilson) and burnt-out boss (Bill Hader) for their help and advice. If the group is going to complete the list by September they’ll need plenty of imagination and very open minds.
LAST VEGAS
RELEASE DATE: Holiday, 2013
DIRECTED BY: Jon Turteltaub
WRITTEN BY: Dan Fogelman
PRODUCED BY: Laurence Mark, Amy Baer
CAST: Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Kline, Mary Steenburgen, Jerry Ferrara, Romany Malco, Roger Bart
Billy (Michael Douglas), Paddy (Robert De Niro), Archie (Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Kevin Kline) have been best friends since childhood. So when Billy, the group’s sworn bachelor, finally proposes to his thirty-something (of course) girlfriend, the four head to Las Vegas with a plan to stop acting their age and relive their glory days.
However, upon arriving, the four quickly realize that the decades have transformed Sin City and tested their friendship in ways they never imagined. The Rat Pack may have once played the Sands and Cirque du Soleil may now rule the Strip, but it’s these four who are taking over Vegas.
The cast is amazing. Can’t wait for this one.
