The Last Exorcism: Part 2[Earlier this week, Jane pondered the trend of demons who twist their human hosts backwards. Paula jumps into the fray with more notes on The Last Exorcism, Part II…ed.]

A movie poster for The Last Exorcism Part II, in theaters March 1, 2013, was released this week, and it looks pretty creepily scary. Actress Ashley Bell reprises her role as the demon-possessed teenager Nell Sweetzer with the gymnastic abilities of an Olympian.

According to press notes, Bell is ultra-flexible and she does all those back bends and other gravity-defying contortions without any special effects. She has some genuinely creepy moves. This was useful in the eerie first movie, 2010’s The Last Exorcism, when her father requested an exorcism for his daughter after she eviscerated one cow too many on the single father’s Louisiana farm.

According to the synopsis, Part II continues where the first film left off. Nell is trying to rebuild her life. She finds herself in the woods of rural Louisiana terrified and alone. When she returns to New Orleans, she can’t remember what happened there, and all she recalls is that she is the last surviving member of her family.

And, oh yeah, the evil demons who possessed her are back and they have even more horrific plans in store for her than before.

And by the way, here’s Ashley Bell being flexible in the poster for the first movie.
