SAG Awards 2013: Jennifer LawrenceOk, because we know you’re all wondering, let’s take a closer look at Jennifer Lawrence‘s Screen Actors’ Guild Awards wardrobe malfunction.

While approaching the stage to accept her “Actor” statue for Best Female Actor in a Film, the “Silver Linings Playbook” star appeared to have a wardrobe malfunction with her gorgeous Christian Dior gown.

In a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment, the gown appeared to split open in a horizontal tear just above her knee.

But apparently, it wasn’t a tear. As reported on E! News, the gown is actually a tiered dress, with concealed, sheer lining that was was momentarily revealed when Lawrence hiked up her dress walking up the stairs.

Bet the Dior people all gasped in horror when they saw that brief malfunction!

Did you guys even notice it? I didn’t noticed it until someone mentioned it, then rewound my DVR and checked it out. Definitely a teensy momentary malfunction.

And her parents were so sweet in their reactions, weren’t they? Love them.

  1. I noticed it but thought the dress was maybe in two parts and this was the natural separation. I didn’t think it was a tear. As it was just above the knee it didn’t reveal anything but yes, I had the momentary gasp, because those dresses are a fortune and they do get damaged; people step on them – I’ve seen that happened up close. The malfunction was very noticeable.

    • I honestly didn’t even notice it until Melanie mentioned it while we were chatting on Facebook last night. I can’t imagine being either the person wearing an expensive gown like that, or the designer watching it malfunction on national TV. Yikes.

And Jennifer has gone through such a style evolution starting with the red dress she wore on the red carpet for “Winter’s Bone.” Lots of people panned that dress, but I actually loved it. Hard for a dress to malfunction when it’s straightforward like that with not a lot of extra details.

  2. It also makes me wonder why a dress like that is designed in two pieces. Maybe for movement? So the person can actually walk in it? But I don’t see how the two pieces would make a difference on that.
