Get Married … Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Would you like to get married Somewhere Over The Rainbow? Now you can!

For little more than the cost of two orchestra seats at a Broadway show, you can have the experience of a life-time as you and your loved one are joined in marriage — live and in living color on a New York stage, during the new musical revue, The Wonderful Wizard of Song.

It’s a brand new off-Broadway musical celebrating the evergreen music of Harold Arlen, including “I’ve Got the World on a String, ” Stormy Weather,” “Paper Moon,” “Let’s Fall in Love,” and all the beloved songs from The Wizard of Oz, including that Judy Garland classic, “Over the Rainbow.” I love the old songs and am at this moment listening to my “Bing Crosby Channel” on Pandora.com.

Here’s how it works: The lucky couples are seated up front in the audience to enjoy the show. Before the show’s finale, they’re invited on stage to join the cast, where they’ll be married by a recognized New York Officiant.

Immediately after being pronounced married, the live band and cast will perform “Over The Rainbow” and a photographer will capture the special moment. Couples will receive a group wedding photo, a champagne toast after the show for the entire wedding party, and a commemorative certificate documenting the one-of-a-kind wedding.  The show will also provide two official witnesses.

It sounds pretty cool, and the perfect way to tie the knot for people who love theater and/or The Wizard of Oz. Here’s the details if you’re interested:

What a great gimmick. These kinds of shows Off-B’way struggle to get audiences, and this is certainly one way to get buzz.
