New Girl‘s Thanksgiving episode did not disappoint.
In this week’s episode, “Parents,” Jess tries pulling a Parent Trap scheme to get her divorced parents Joan and Bob (played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner) back together over Thanksgiving dinner. She ropes Cece and Nick into her evil plan as she sics Nick onto her mother. In doing so, Nick finds himself oddly attracted to her.
Jess’s efforts are in vain as her parents still hook up from time to time. Watching Curtis and Reiner go at it like a couple of randy teenagers is funny in and of itself.
Meanwhile, Schmidt’s cousin (played by Rob Riggle), also known as Schmidt, shows up for Thanksgiving dinner and like Highlander, there can be only one, so a war of egos begins as they determine who will be known as “The One True Schmidt.”
They say women are attracted to men who are similar to their fathers, so it’s amusing to see Nick and Bob mirroring each others’ phrases and gestures as they wax poetic on the couch. In their conversation, we find out Nick is writing a zombie novel that is very reminiscent of Twilight. The zombie in his novel is in love with a human woman, set in Seattle, and has a love triangle with a werewolf.
Maybe Nick has a blockbuster in him!
