Uggie the Dog Plants Paw Prints at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre

Uggie, that adorable canine star from this year’s Oscar-winning film The Artist, made history again when he planted his paw prints in cement outside of Hollywood’s Grauman’s Chinese Theatre with help from trainer Omar von Muller. He said Uggie will still appear at charity events, but has no plans to return to the movies.

Uggie is the first dog to be honored with paw prints there, although both Lassie and Rin Tin Tin have stars on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame (and the current Lassie and Rin Tin Tin both attended Uggie’s celebration).

The little Jack Russell Terrier strutted down the red carpet, posed for photos, and performed a few tricks for a crowd that included the mayor of Hollywood, The Artist costar Ken Divitian, and reps from the Beverly Hills Mutt Club. Uggie even got his own cake — a life-sized fire hydrant cake designed by Ace of Cakes‘ Duff Goldman.
