Tyler Perry Plays a Homicide Detective in Alex Cross Trailer

You usually don’t associate the words “homicide detective” with “Tyler Perry,” but the guy known for ruling the universe with his Madea movies and romantic comedies has gone to the dark side.

In Alex Cross, he plays a young homicide detective/psychologist who meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but Cross ends up pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits. Yeah, I’d kind of like to see that!

Edward Burns, Rachel Nichols, John McGinley and Jean Reno also star in this psychological thriller from director Rob Cohen, who directed The Fast and the Furious and Stealth (he clearly knows action dramas).

The other cool thing about Alex Cross is that it’s based on the books by James Patterson. I don’t see an official movie site yet, but here’s the Alex Cross movie page on James Patterson’s site.

In theaters Oct 19, 2012, Alex Cross is rated PG-13 for violence including disturbing images, sexual content, language, drug references, and nudity. Uh, yeah, that sounds like an R movie to me.

Here’s the trailer… Are you ok with seeing Tyler Perry toting a gun and chasing killers?
