When I heard the news out of Comic-Con that the cast of Firefly was getting a shiny new TV special, I cheered. Loudly. The crew of Serenity getting back together? Will it be a movie? A continuation of the series? Something equally fabulous?
But it turns out that it’s basically a reunion show on the Science Channel celebrating the space western’s 10th anniversary. The special, titled Browncoats Unite, will chronicle the cast’s reunion at Comic-con this year, including footage from Friday’s reunion panel featuring several members of the original team, including star Nathan Fillion and creator Joss Whedon. Ok, we’ll take what we can get!

Plus, the cast is shooting an in-depth behind-the-scenes roundtable interview that will delve into burning fan questions about the beloved series. Both the panel and the roundtable will be moderated by Entertainment Weekly‘s Jeff Jensen.
Look for Browncoats Unite to air on the Science Channel, along with an all-day marathon of Firefly episodes, on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. But I’m still hoping Nathan Fillion will buy Firefly at some point. Until then, we’ll have to settle for Firefly on Amazon.
