My friends over at PBS just sent out a cute and funny infographic about Downton Abbey, the veddy British show with which I’m somewhat obsessed at the moment.
Unlike everyone who’s on top of things and actually watching the show as it airs, I just finished [amazon_link id=”B004FM2ENU” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]season one on blu-ray[/amazon_link], so I’ve got season two spreading out before me like a beautifully manicured rose garden.
If you’re watching it in real time, you know that the season two finale airs this Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012. I won’t have to wait, however, because the U.K. version is already [amazon_link id=”B005Q1W0ZQ” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]available on blu-ray[/amazon_link].
Unfortunately, I saw last week’s spoiler-worthy cover of Entertainment Weekly, so I know there’s a love triangle involving Lady Mary ahead of me. Though that wouldn’t have been difficult to figure out, based on how season one ended.
Anyway, check out the fun infographic below. I had no idea that Jim Carter, a.k.a. Mr. Carson, does charity bike rides all over the world, or that Andrew Lloyd Webber tried to buy Highclere Castle so he’d have a place to put his art collection. That’s a high-class problem if ever I heard one.
This was a fun post- I do so love this series. I stumbled on it by accident last year- on netflix- and watched the season one. Then I waited patiently for Season 2 and have enjoyed watching it week by week…I’m just sad season 2 is almost over (next week will be the ‘christmas’ special)
The only one I haven’t seen is the Easter Special, which my pal Frugal Kiwi tells me has aired (though I don’t think it was on the DVD set released here in the U.S.). So, at least one more ep to tie us over!
I think this kind of show is really great..Looking forward to watching it..Keep on sharing..
Good grief–where have I been? Until you mentioned it, I had never even heard of Downton Abbey (Or Downtown Abbey, either!). But beat out Mad Men??? Say it isn’t so.
I’d say it’s right up there with Mad Men. Two very different shows, both very good in their own way.
I missed the first season completely, but have followed the second (very short??) season closely. My 16 year old and I have a standing date on Sunday nights!
Oh you’ve gotta see the first season now! So cool that you watch with your 16-yo.
My friend just loaned me seasons 1&2 on dvd, so I’ve got some watching to do. I can’t wait to be able to understand what everyone is talking about – and get addicted to the series like everyone else is!
Totally addictive. Report back on how you like it, Merr.
I devoured that series on DVD, though must say this season has seemed a little silly and soapy at times I watched anyway. Have you seen the spoof? Kinda spoils you for the real deal but is truly funny:

Oh that’s hilarious! And spot on. Thanks for posting – I hadn’t seen that. I can’t believe we have to wait til next year for new episodes! Sigh…
[…] I missed this wildly popular series until Jane Boursaw gushed about it at Reel Life With Jane. Fondly remembering Upstairs/Dowstairs, which Downton Abbey is often compared to, I streamed the […]
