You have to think that any time Betty White is nominated for something, all the other people in that category probably just sigh and go, “Eh, maybe next year.” She truly is our golden girl, and she deserves all the kudos and awards she’s landing right now. Go, Betty!
Betty scored a Screen Actors Guild award on Sunday for her roles on Hot in Cleveland and Hallmark Hall of Fame: The Lost Valentine. I love the SAG awards because unlike other fan-based award shows, this one is all about the acting profession, how people got started, and how they achieved success in the business.
The Help was the big winner of the night, picking up the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, as well as individual acting awards for Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.
Other winners included The Artist‘s Jean Dujardin, Beginners‘ Christopher Plummer, and the casts of Boardwalk Empire and Modern Family. Noticeably shut out was The Descendants and Midnight in Paris. Kind of makes you wonder how the Oscars will go on Feb. 26, doesn’t it?

Other SAG Highlights:
Loved the Martin Scorsese drinking game. And laughed out loud when Steve Buscemi handed Tina Fey his drink, mentioned “Scorsese,” and Tina promptly downed the rest of his drink. You wonder if stuff like that is planned, but how could it be? Who knew he would actually win? I love Tina Fey. I love Steve Buscemi.

A big cyber-hug to Mary Tyler Moore for her Lifetime Achievement Award. But did they cut her speech off at the end? It seemed a little awkward, with Dick Van Dyke going over to kiss her and her not knowing for sure what was happening. Anyway, Mary looks great for just having had brain surgery not long ago.
Is it just me, or did Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seem more lovey-dovey than usual? They seemed positively ice-cold at the Golden Globes, so I wonder if their publicists encouraged them to PDA it up for the cameras. These are the things I think about.
