In my wrap-up of the Screen Actors Guild awards on Sunday, I mentioned that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seemed a little more lovey-dovey than they’ve been on the red carpet lately. They were positively icy at the Golden Globes earlier this month, and you wonder if their publicists told them to start showing more affection towards each other.
Then again, it’s not like they’re ever OUT of the tabloids. Every time I check out at the grocery store, the tabloid covers are all “Angie’s pregnant and 98 pounds!,” “Brad and Angie Headed for Split!,” and “Pregnant Jen to Brad: I Want You Back!” You’ve gotta think the whole thing must get tiresome after a while. I hope they just ignore all that stuff.
And, of course, there’s always the usual talk about whether they’ll get married or not. When asked about it on the red carpet Sunday, Angelina told PEOPLE, “I think anything said tends to be blown out of proportion.” And Brad said, “Yeah, that was my fault.”
He recently told CBS News that they’re getting a lot of pressure from the kids to get married. “It means something to them. We will [get married] someday, we will. It’s a great idea. ‘Get mommy a ring.’ ‘OK, I will, I will.’”
And he said virtually the same thing to The Hollywood Reporter. “It seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to [get married] till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out … it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”
