A new trailer for ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes‘ is playing before ‘X-Men: First Class.’ I know some people aren’t all that geeked about the movie, like this commenter over at Deadline.com:
“Despite the number of dramatic rumbles and dips to black in the trailer, I’m struggling to get excited about a film with such a preposterous premise. Almost 7 billion humans against primates who are so few in number that many species are on the endangered list. The original ‘Planet of The Apes’ series was made at a time when nuclear apocalypse was a realistic prospect. End of the world. Reset. The monkeys rise. Without nuclear war, it just looks ridiculous. And if you’re ever flying a helicopter and a monkey jumps at it, just move a little further back and watch the little furry fellow plummet to his death.”
Ok, they make some valid points. Still, it’s hard not to get creeped out when Caesar turns and looks into the camera your soul with his piercing human eyes. Creepy.
The Rupert Wyatt-directed film stars James Franco and hits theaters Aug. 5, 2011. Take a look at the trailer and see what you think. Creepy or preposterous?
