Ready to see ‘Super 8’? Me, too! I’ll have to wait til Friday, but you might get to see it sooner if you’re near one of the 300 screens in the U.S. and Canada that’s premiering a sneak preview tomorrow, June 9, 2011.
To promote the sneak previews, Paramount Pictures and Twitter have designated the hashtag #Super8Secret,which gives Twitter users a direct link to buy tickets for the advanced previews. At a few participating theaters, they’ll even get free popcorn! Ok, so you have to buy something else at the concession stand, but still a great deal.
I don’t have that option, because the first showing here in Traverse City is Friday morning at 12:01 a.m. Hmmm… think I’ll wait til later in the day to see it. I guess the people who actually see the movie tomorrow will tweet about it, so I’ll be checking into the #Super8Secret hashtag to see what’s up.
The movie takes place in the summer of 1979 in a small town in Ohio, where a group of friends witness a catastrophic train crash while making a movie with a Super 8 camera. They soon suspect that it wasn’t an accident [cue ‘Twilight Zone’ music], and shortly thereafter, weird things start happening all over town.
‘Super 8’ is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, language and some drug use. It’s directed, written and produced by J.J. Abrams (‘Fringe’ and ‘Star Trek’) and produced by Steven Spielberg (a gazillion hit movies). Follow ‘Super 8’ on Twitter, Like it on Facebook, and visit the official site.
