Here’s the first image from director Rian Johnson’s ‘Looper.’ It’s of Bruce Willis shooting fire from a giant gun, which, quite frankly, looks like every other Bruce Willis movie lately. But let’s face facts — he’s really good with the action genre, and I guess he’s sticking with what works.
I’m excited about this movie because, well, I like Bruce Willis as the tough-guy character. And Johnson has directed some interesting stuff in the past, including ‘[amazon_link id=”B002J1RZH4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Brothers Bloom[/amazon_link]’ and ‘[amazon_link id=”B000FVQM2Y” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Brick[/amazon_link],’ as well as episodes of ‘Terriers’ and ‘Breaking Bad.’
‘Looper’ re-teams Johnson with ‘Brick’ star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose hitman character kills hooded, bound victims sent back in time from 30 years in the future. Except one day, a body arrives without a hood. It’s his future self, played by Willis, and he’s not going down without a fight (see photo below).
The project also stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Blunt, and Paul Dano, and it’s being shopped around at Cannes right now. Look for an early 2012 release date.
