Dual Survival: How to Skin a Python

Dual SurvivalMy son recently introduced me to ‘Dual Survival,’ a Discovery Network show about two guys who are dropped into the planet’s most unforgiving terrain and somehow manage to stay alive.

Dave Canterbury and the perennially-barefoot Cody Lundin are survival experts with different skill sets who demonstrate how creative thinking can save you if you’re ever caught in the jungle at night, in a sweltering desert, or adrift in the Everglades.

I’m hoping I never, ever need to know how to skin a python, cook the meat, and use the skin as a vessel to heat drinkable water. But at least I’ll have some vague idea how to do it by watching these guys. Take a look below at what happens when Dave and Cody encounter a Burmese Python in the Everglades. The heart keeps beating even after the snake is dead. Nice!

‘Dual Survival’ airs Fridays, 9 p.m. on Discovery. Are you a fan?

I’m not sure if it was on Discovery Channel or National Geographic but pythons still coil even when they’re skinned.

Oh cripes. Talk about staying power! Talk about nature’s fortitude! Now I’m wondering if the human heart continues beating outside the body. I’ve heard that your hair and fingernails keep growing even when you’re — MORBID ALERT! — in a box under the ground. Hmmm…
