Sometimes movies that fare well initially don’t do as well with the sequel. Oh, who are we kidding? It’s rare for a sequel to measure up, but I think ‘Cars 2’ has a real chance at greatness. It’s colorful, action-packed, features great characters, and if it’s anything like the original movie, it’ll have a great message of hope and friendship.

Cars 2

The story brings back star race car Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) and tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) who head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But Mater gets caught up in a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British super spy Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) and rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer).

John Lasseter directed 2006’s ‘[amazon_link id=”B004I654WQ” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Cars[/amazon_link]’ and returns to helm this movie along with co-director Brad Lewis. ‘Cars 2’ hits theaters June 24, 2011 in 3D and IMAX 3D. It’s not rated yet, but I’m guessing either G or PG. Check out the official ‘Cars 2’ site and fan them on Facebook. Here’s the third official trailer…
