I’m having a lot of trouble getting worked up about the ‘Arthur‘ remake starring Russell Brand as the spoiled playboy who stands to lose millions unless he marries a certain woman (Jennifer Garner). I think it’s because every time I see the trailer, it just makes me miss Dudley Moore, who originated the role in [amazon_link id=”B004JMSIS6″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]the 1981 movie[/amazon_link].
Then again, this version has a few things going for it. For one thing, after seeing ‘Hop,’ I gained a new fondness for Russell Brand. It’s nice to see him in a family movie (or at least voicing a part in one), rather than the seedy characters he usually plays.
And Helen Mirren plays his nanny in ‘Arthur.’ Love her! And there’s just something so satisfying about seeing her pick up a boxing glove and smack him one. And I DO love Jennifer Garner and haven’t seen her in anything recently.
Take a look at the trailer and see what you think. It opens this Friday, April 8, 2011; 110 min.; rated PG-13 for alcohol use throughout, sexual content, language and some drug references.
Looking forward to ‘Arthur’?
