PR guy extraordinaire Ryan Fons sent me a note last week with posters for ‘Moon’ (saw it last year – awesome movie) and ‘Source Code,’ both from director Duncan Jones.
These aren’t just any posters, though. They’re from world renowned artist Olly Moss, who’s done some really interesting posters for various film and TV projects over the years. Check them out at his official site.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema & Mondo are celebrating Jones in their next ‘Director’s Series,’ timed to the world premiere of ‘Source Code’ at SXSW on March 11, 2011.
Says Jones, “I’ve been a huge fan of Mr. Moss since I first saw his mock game manual for ‘Half Life’ what feels like an age ago. I’ve been desperate to own one of his pieces ever since. Getting that piece to be based on my films is even better!”
‘Source Code’ follows the story of decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal), who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.
Turns out Stevens is part of a government experiment called the “Source Code,” a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last eight minutes of his life. With a larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time to figure out who’s behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.
‘Source Code,’ rated PG-13 for some violence, including disturbing images, and for language, also stars Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright.
Looking forward to ‘Source Code’? Are you a fan of Olly Moss or Duncan Jones? After seeing ‘Moon,’ I make it a point to see anything directed by Jones. His work is unique and fascinating.
