Water for Elephants: Check Out the Poster & Trailer

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon seem like an odd pair, don’t they? I think because she’s usually associated with romantic comedies and he’s got that broody, dramatic, ‘Twilight’ thing going.

He plays a veterinary student who abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet.

It’s directed by Francis Lawrence, who directed ‘I Am Legend’ and ‘Constantine,’ and has a slate of upcoming films, including ‘Marco Polo,’ ‘Samson,’ and an ‘I Am Legend’ prequel.

‘Water for Elephants’ is based on the novel by Sara Gruen and also stars Christoph Waltz, Hal Holbrook and Dan Lauria.

I read the book and I didn’t get what all the hoopla was about. I didn’t find it particularly fascinating or special. It was mildly entertaining, but I just didn’t see it as that great. So I probably won’t go see this.

I have yet to read the book, but definitely want to – before I see the movie!

I read the book and really enjoyed it. I suggested it to my husband – who rarely reads anything other than Civil War books – and he loved it as well. Looking forward to this movie for sure.

They are not who I pictured as I read the book, and I usually hate watching movies based on books that I’ve loved. But I just wanted the trailer and I got chills. So I’m thinking I have to see it now. I looks like they filmed it beautifully.

I have not read the book, but his participation alone might make me watch the movie. Although w/o the vampire vibe, maybe he doesn’t sizzle. :o)

They do seem like an odd pair. I never felt like he had the vampire vibe anyway. I’ll have to wait for your review to figure out whether it’s worth seeing it in the theatre or whether I should wait to see it on DVD.

I read the book and really enjoyed it. Long after the hoopla so I didn’t have too high expectations (like NoPotCooking might have had). I would like to see this movie. I hope it’s well done!

Looks like a must see–for Hal Holbrook if nothing else. I first saw him on stage in the 1960’s in his one man show of Mark Twain. What a survivor!

They do seem like an odd pair. But then I guess the movie has cross-over appeal: Teen daughters can go to this movie with their middle-aged moms, right?

I am looking forward to hearing what you have to say about this film, Jane.

I’ve been wanting to read this book for ages…now will have to make the decision which will come first – the book or the movie!
