There really hasn’t been much on TV lately that spurred me to know WHEN something is airing and make a point to be AT my TV when it aired. But I’ve been waiting for ‘Off the Map‘ to premiere ever since I heard about it.

I’m a ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ fan, but lost track over the past year or so. I’m slowly getting caught up, but I might have to switch over to ‘Off the Map’ if push comes to shove time-wise.
It’s sort of like ‘Grey’s,’ only set in a tiny, understocked, understaffed clinic in the jungle where the docs end up pulling sting-rays out of feet (the first scene in this week’s episode – see video below!), rescuing people caught in ziplines, and dealing with very large snakes.
The doctors include New Zealand hunk Martin Henderson, Meryl Streep’s daughter Mamie Gummer, ‘Friday Night Lights’ guy Zach Gilford, and Rachelle Lefevre, best known for her role as vengeful vampire Victoria in the ‘Twilight’ movies.
Plus, the series is set in South America but filmed in Hawaii, so the settings are lush and tropical. One scene has the docs jumping off a cliff into the ocean (though I hope people don’t think it’s as easy as they make it look – don’t try this the next time you’re on a cliff by the ocean!).
Anyway, I’ll tune in again next week to see the docs battle the big snake and whatever else comes their way. The show is from ‘Grey’s’ executive producers Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, so they know a thing or two about making a medical series work. This one has all the drama, romance and angst, mixed in with cool settings and interesting cases.
Did you watch ‘Off the Map’ this week? What’d you think?
