Warner Archives has released some fun stuff lately, including ‘Legends of the Super Heroes,’ a two-part, live-action, made-for TV smackdown between superheroes and villains. It’s campy, cheesy, and downright horrible, which is exactly why it’s a must-see DVD.
All the ridiculousness of the old Batman TV series is here, complete with a laugh track. Batman and Robin (Adam West and Burt Ward) lead The Flash, Green Lantern and other Justice League members against The Riddler (Frank Gorshin), Mordru, Weather Wizard and other villains, whose goal is to trick the heroes into quaffing a diabolical depowering drink. Ed McMahon even appears as a celebrity emcee.
Bootleg copies of this have circulated for years, but those can all be tossed now that it’s officially on DVD. And for 30-year-old video, the restoration is darn amazing. It’s available for $19.95 on the WBShop.com.
