We haven’t had a ton of news on the fourth Pirates film — ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ – but it’s currently filming and scheduled for a May 20, 2011 release date.
To get us psyched up, here are three pictures from the set, filmed at Halona Cove, O’ahu, Hawaii. Directed by Rob Marshall, the story follows Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp , in all his drunken pirate glory), who crosses paths with a woman from his past, Angelica, played by Penelope Cruz . I’m excited that she’s the female lead, because she’s got just the right amount of brains, beauty and spunk to pull it off.
But is it love, or is Angelica just a ruthless con artist using Jack to help her find the fabled Fountain of Youth? She forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane – woot!), and Jack once again finds himself smack in the middle of an unexpected adventure.
Reprising their roles are Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs. Any thoughts on the movie or photos?
