One thing about playing the same character for ten years is that, essentially, you have to look pretty much the same from one film to the next. For Emma Watson, who plays smart bookworm Hermione Granger in the ‘Harry Potter’ films, that meant keeping her long, brownish-blonde locks for that entire time period.
I guess she could have worn a wig – actresses do that all the time – but it’s probably easier just keeping the same hairstyle year after year. But all that changed when the 20-year-old cut her long tresses in favor of a short pixie haircut. “The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “It felt amazing. I love it.”
Watson, who’s about to enter her sophomore year at Brown University, said she’s wanted to do this since she was 16, “so as soon as I had the chance, I was like, ‘Right. This is it.’”
Your thoughts? I think it’s really cute.
Look for Watson and the rest of the wizarding gang in ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1,’ in theaters Nov. 19, 2010. Part Two hits theaters July 15, 2011.
