Man, I wish I was planning on attending the Chicago International Film Festival in October. Heck, I’m not that far away – just six hours or so from Traverse City — so maybe I’ll hop on U.S. 31 and tool down there.
Then I might have the chance to meet Edward Norton, who’ll be appearing with director John Curran for their film ‘Stone,’ which is the opening night film on October 7, 2010. If you happen to be in the vicinity, it’s premiering at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park, 205 E. Randolph Street in Chicago.
The film follows parole officer Jack Mabry (Robert De Niro), who’s counting the days until he can retire quietly. But then he’s asked to review the case of Gerald “Stone” Creeson (Norton), in prison for covering up the murder of his grandparents with a fire. Now eligible for early release, Stone needs to convince Jack he has reformed, but his attempts to influence the older man’s decision have profound and unexpected effects on them both.
The cast also includes Milla Jovovich as Lucetta, Stone’s sexy, amoral wife, and Frances Conroy as Madylyn, Jack’s devout, long-suffering spouse. Loved her in ‘Six Feet Under.’ And De Niro and Norton? What could be better? It opens wide in theaters on Oct. 8, 2010.
