I’ll say right off the bat I’ve never heard of ‘Tales of the Gold Monkey,’ but will check it out because the complete series is being released on DVD June 8, 2010 by Shout! Factory. The 6-DVD Collector’s Box Set will retail for $49.97.
Created by Donald Bellisario (he’s done a ton of TV, including ‘NCIS,’ ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and ‘Magnum, P.I.’), ‘Tales of the Gold Monkey’ aired on ABC in the early 1980s and sort of riffed off the success of the ‘Indiana Jones’ movies. Set in 1938, the adventure series stars Stephen Collins as young American adventurer Jake Cutter, who along with his ragtag group of friends, transports people-on-the-run in a well-worn Grumman Goose seaplane.
