CINDERELLA
by Jane Louise
Boursaw
Rated G. Ok for all ages. 76 minutes. Animated.
Original movie released in 1950. Re-mastered version released on DVD
Oct. 4, 2005.
You know the story: a beautiful young girl is
living with her wicked stepmother and equally wicked stepsisters,
waiting on them hand and foot. She cooks, cleans, does laundry, you name
it. Her only friends are the animals she cares for, and when the local
Prince announces that he’s looking for a bride, the animals give her a
makeover complete with a beautiful gown.
But wait! The stepsisters see how lovely she looks
and rip her dress to shreds before she can attend the Royal Ball! Enter
the Fairy Godmother, who waves some sparkly dust around and gives
Cinderella a night to remember.
THE WRAP-UP: Just think. Without this
movie, there would be no wicked stepmothers, fairy godmothers, handsome
princes, makeover reality shows, and that favorite
get-out-of-a-blind-date line: “But I’ll turn into a pumpkin if I don’t
get home by midnight!” All that AND a classic family movie that never
goes out of style. What more can you ask for?
And isn’t it time your kids learned the words to
“Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo”? (Ok, isn’t it time we ALL learned them?) This
movie is a great reminder to always see the good in life and keep a
positive attitude, even when you’re on your hands and knees scrubbing
that kitchen floor.
DVD FEATURES: The Making of
Cinderella, 1922 Laugh-O-Gram, Cinderella and Perry Como, Reconstructed
deleted songs (“The Cinderella Work Song,” “Dancing on a Cloud”),
Princess Pajama Jam, several all-new music videos, and so much more.
RATING: 4 out
