BAMBI
- DVD
Rated G. 69 minutes. Directed by David
Hand. Released on DVD March 1, 2005.
Well, everyone’s favorite little deer
is over 60 years old, but he’s never looked better! That’s because the 1942
Disney film has been painstakingly restored for DVD. The colors are
brilliant, and almost every trace of dirt and damage is gone.
Although the death of Bambi’s mother
probably ranks as one of the most traumatic movie experiences in history,
this movie is still a classic. Bambi covers a year in the life of a young
deer, but more than that, it measures the life cycle itself, from
childhood’s carefree days to adulthood’s weighty responsibilities. The
animation is beautiful – lush forests, sidekicks Thumper and Flower, and
don’t forget Bambi’s wobbly glide across an ice-covered lake, spindly legs
askew.
THE WRAP-UP: A classic to
share with your children.
SCORE: 4 out of 4 Reels.
