Aziz Ansari is back with the second season of his Emmy-Award winning show “Master of None,” streaming now on Netflix. The first season ended with Ansari jetting off to Italy to pursue a culinary journey of his own which involved making the perfect pasta. Turns out the comic did go to Italy to give the show authenticity and to learn how to make pasta. (Alan Yang is the co-writer of the show)
Last night the comedy’s creator, writer, director and star celebrated the show’s new season at the New York premiere at the SVA Theater in Chelsea.
Aziz Ansari walked the red carpet with his mother Fatima Ansari, his father Shoukath Ansari, and his brother Aniz Ansari, all of whom are involved in the production of the show. His real-life parents play his parents in the series and despite being non-actors they are scene-stealers. Aziz’s scenes with his parents are hilarious and relatable and they are naturals on the screen. (His younger brother is a writer on the series.)
Other attendees at the SVA theater included members of the cast of the series’ second season such as Danielle Brooks, Alessandra Mastronardi, Lena Waithe, Eric Wareheim, and Kevin Yu as well as guests Adrienne C. Moore, Janet Mock, and Annie Parisse. Immediately following the screening, the party continued at The Top of the Standard.
