Megyn Kelly is one of my favorite female news-journalist-commentators of late. The host of Fox News’ “The Kelly File” was at the 2016 Women in the World Summit this week.
She had a lot of great things to say in her interview with Katie Couric, including this:
“I come from a long line of strong women,” she said. “You are going to laugh, because it’s the opposite of what you’re anticipating. My parents expected me to be a cheerleader forever. I didn’t take myself seriously as an academic student until I decided I wanted to go to law school. My parents never said ‘you’re great and you’re smart and you can do it.’ They did two things: they showed me I could do it and they insulted me!”
Megyn wore a gorgeous blue Yigal Azrouel mini-dress that highlighted her trim figure. She paired the fun, studded frock with simple accessories and strappy black heels with just a bit of edge to them.
The mom of three also had this to say:
“I never grew up thinking I was the bee’s knees. What it did was give me the greatest gift, which was self-awareness. Show, don’t tell your kids. Let them see that you actually believe in them.”
Megyn Kelly Talks Donald Trump
Thanks to an August incident involving Donald Trump on the campaign trail last year, Megyn’s profile is higher than ever. But she’s not necessarily thrilled about it.
“It is bizarre. It is surreal. It’s very strange to see the headlines come in and see your own name. I’m looking forward to that ending.”
But she stresses that the now-infamous moment with Trump doesn’t deter her from doing her job, which she says is to “press” the people she interviews.
