5 Family-Friendly Road Trip Movies for Kids & Grownups

Cars Movie

It’s summer and you know what that means? Time for a road trip! To get you geared up, here are a few of my favorite family-friendly road trip movies:

1. Cars (Rated G). This animated Disney Pixar movie is a fantastic road trip movie, not only because of all the characters (who are various vehicles), but also because it features one of the most famous roads in America — Route 66. Kids will love all the cars, and parents and grandparents will enjoy the vintage feel of the small towns and wide open road.

2. The Muppet Movie (Rated G). While I love the 2011 reboot starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams, I’m going with the original 1979 movie in which Kermit and his friends trek across America to find success in Hollywood. The only problem? A frog-legs merchant is after Kermit. That’s not good! With tons of laughs – and who doesn’t love The Muppets? – this is a great movie for kids and grownups.

3. A Goofy Movie (Rated G). Is it ever a good idea to be trapped in a car with your tween-ager on a long road trip? You make the call! When Goofy decides that he and his son Max need to take a bonding cross-country road trip (just like he did with HIS father), anything can happen and probably will. This trip offers lots of awkward, embarrassing and downright funny moments that allow father and son to understand and appreciate each other a little more.

4. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (Rated PG). In this movie from the popular “Madagascar” franchise, the animal friends board a plane to try and return to their zoo home in New York City. Except … they crash land in Africa, where they meet other animals like themselves, as well as a few family members.

5. College Road Trip (Rated G). Got a kid heading to college? Then check out this cute movie starring Raven-Symone as an overachieving high school student who decides to travel around the country to find the perfect college. Her overprotective cop father (Martin Lawrence) accompanies her to keep her on the straight and narrow — and create plenty of super embarrassing moments, of course.

DareToCompare_PhotoIf you’re heading out on a road trip this summer, be sure to visit your local Sam’s Club for the Sam’s Club #DareToCompare all-in tire offer — it’s truly an unbeatable deal! Pull in to your local Sam’s Club to have everything checked and get new tires before your next summer trip. You can’t be too careful when it comes to car and tire safety!

Sam’s Club offers the best tire brands at the best all-in price, matching offer — including Michelin, Goodyear, BF Goodrich and Pirelli. Not only does Sam’s Club offer a fabulous price on tires, but they also include the Tire Installation Package with each tire purchase ($15/tire, $25/dually tire).

The Sam’s Club Tire Installation Package provides purchasing members with the following benefits and services for as long as they remain an active member of Sam’s Club:

  • Tire Mounting
  • Tire Lifetime Balancing
  • Tire Lifetime Rotation
  • A Value Stem
  • No Charge Tire Lifetime Flat Repair

There’s a reason the Sam’s Club tagline is: “We offer the best tire brands at the best “all-in” price, and we’ll match it!”

How the Sam’s Club “Dare to Compare” offer works: Bring a valid “all-in” quote from a tire sales and installation retailer to your Sam’s Club Tire and Battery Center service counter. The quote must be printed on dealer/retailer letterhead and dated within the past 7 business days. The tire must be the same brand, same line, same load index and speed rating (service description) as the tire intended for purchase at Sam’s Club.

Sam’s Club carries some club-specific tire lines – in these cases, Sam’s Club will compare the club-specific tire line to the equivalent general-market tire line.

Sam’s Club considers the following tire lines to be equivalent and will price match accordingly: Club-Specific Tire Model, General-Market Tire Model – BFGoodrich Touring T/ABFGoodrich Advantage T/A Michelin Defender XT Michelin Defender Michelin X Radial LT2 Michelin LTX M/S2

The Deals:
  • BF Goodrich 5/6/2015 5/31/2015 $50/$70 off set of 4

Our children love the film “Cars” so much. They watched that film about 10 times! I personally give a vote to Madagascar, it is a good film too
